Supplies and Equipment for Hydroponics

Core equipment

• A container that blocks light, sized for your plants.
• Net cups to hold plants above the solution.
• A growing medium such as clay pebbles, rockwool, coco coir or perlite.
• A hydroponic nutrient, usually sold as a two-part or all-in-one mix.
• A pH meter or liquid test kit, plus pH up and pH down.

Optional equipment

• An air pump and air stone to add oxygen to the solution.
• A pump and timer for drip, ebb and flow or recirculating systems.
• Grow lights, if you are growing indoors or in low light.
• Trellis or support for taller or vining plants.

Start with the system you have chosen in the guides. Each system needs different equipment, so buy for that system first.
